This year my son's class did a neat little project as a PTA fundraiser. They each made a little piece of art using canvas boards. BBC was chosen to make a Santa from his handprint. This reminded me of the Christmas cards we made a few years back.
BBC was about to turn three and he was quite the big boy. We decided to do handmade (pun intended) Christmas cards for close family and friends. This is a fun and fairly simple (but messy) project to do with the kiddos. If you are ambitious like us you can make cards. This also makes a nice piece of artwork you can frame or even hang from the tree each year.
We used tempera paint back then. If I were doing over I would use acrylic craft paint in gloss. Using a foam brush we painted his hands and feet and then stamped onto pre-folded pieces of card stock.
We simply embellished each one with markers and additional paint. You could use googly eyes and other fun items to dress them up even more! Since we were making several cards, we kept it simple. We made reindeer with hands.
And Christmas trees with feet. We added a Merry Christmas stamp to the front of each card in red and added a picture of BBC and a special note inside. BBC picked the cards for each individual family. It was so sweet and so much fun! He shares his mother's love for projects.
We also did a few Santa hands but they didn't turn out nearly as cute as the canvas from this year. I think we will revamp this project and make a reindeer and tree on canvas boards to go with this Santa. Then we will have a trio of artwork to hang each holiday.
I'm also sharing at a Meaningful Family Christmas. Check it out - the post is bilingual - so cool!

And finally I'm throwing my hat in the ring for the CSI project.
Happy Crafting!
