Fall Door Decor 2010

Door decor is probably my favorite of all decorating. But sometimes I put pressure on myself to come up with something different. Sometimes I wish I was one of those girls that put the same thing out year to year. I have tried that but alas, I am just not that girl (can you say obsessed).

After last year's spooky door I just wasn't sure I would come up with something original that I liked as much. But somewhere out of the blue this idea came to me...

From a distance it may look similar to something done in the past. There are elements that have been recycled like the grapevine garland with the harvest lights.

(Yes, there are a few of the light out on the left side but I was heading out of time and wanted to get this post up so you'll have to imagine lights all around until I get it fixed.)

Here's a shot with flash so you can begin to see more detail. The top of the garland is accented with a big, floppy burlap bow. Have I mentioned my obsession with burlap this year?

You probably recognize this wreath from a previous project. This time I ripped out the sphagnum moss and dropped in the other half of the burlap bag from my table runner. I popped in a few pots of live mums and hung it with burlap ribbon. I can't wait for the mums to be in full bloom. Then it's really going to pop!

Speaking of burlap bags, I crafted a few to hold live mums and then wired them to the garland. If you like this idea check back tomorrow and I'll share the details of how I crafted these. They have three of my favorite qualities - cheap, easy, and wow-factor!

I swirled the bottom of the grapevine garland into my urns and plopped a nice, big & juicy pumpkin on top. Then I tucked a few faux fall leaves (say that three times fast) here and there to complete the look.

Of course I think it turned out pretty cute - what do you think?

First thing that you'll get to see in a home is the main door. For me, it's like the focal point of a house. You may have a beautiful house if you have beautiful doors. Boston home of mine has a beautiful main door, and my wife bought that in a home depot near our place.
